Soverato and surroundings
In summer, the temperature of the sea in Soverato is 23-24 degrees.
The mountains, which protect the town backwards, prevent cold winds to reach it.
For all these reasons, Soverato is known as a “Summer resort”.
The landscape is really lovely: clean and clear sea, fine white sandy beaches that sparkle against the rays of the sun, a mild climate throughout the year.
The town of Soverato is a very popular summer holiday resort and is a popular destination for national and international tourism, thanks to many holiday resorts, as well recreation and leisure structures.
Its fishing port is one of the most active of the Ionian Calabria. It is characterized by a wide promenade and beautiful white beach. 2 km up away is Soverato Superiore that dates back to the late eighteenth century, here you can see the “Pietà” and a lovely bas-relief by Gagini (XVI cent.) inside the Parish Church.
Also worth seeing “La Torre” named after Charles V (XVI cent.).
Tourists are not only attracted to Soverato for its lucky environmental conditions, but also for the Calabrian cuisine which is famous for its genuine and tasty dishes, enhanced by spicy aromas and washed down with strong local wines.
In the narrow alleys of the old town, there are ceramics, textiles and jewelry workshops that offer the best of local production.

“LA CATTOLICA” at STILO: a kind of acropolis of early Christianity with specific references to similar buildings in Greece, Armenia and Anatolia.
The CHARTERHOUSE at SERRA SAN BRUNO: founded by Saint Bruno in 1091, you can still see the facade and part of the cloister of the seventeenth century.
THE CATHEDRAL at GERACE: a Norman building, the church is the largest in the region.
“LA ROCCELLETTA” at BORGIA: a Norman construction of the XI century; in addition, the Scolacium Archaeological Park (theatre, forum, tombs) and the Norman church of S. Maria della Roccella.
“PARCO DELLA BIODIVERSITÀ MEDITERRANEA” at CATANZARO: An oasis just near the centre of the town of Catanzaro, with a surprising variety of plants and flowers, green spaces that extend for more than 60 hectares, and structures for entertainment and care of wildlife, an outdoor path among contemporary sculpture with works by internationally renowned masters and the Military History Museum (MUSMI).
